DELTA FORCE : TASK FORCE DAGGER


While Red Storm Entertainment's Rainbow Six series often gets all the credit for establishing the tactical shooter genre, games like NovaLogic's long-running Delta Force series deserve some credit too. With a focus on real-world weaponry, long-range sniping, and quick kills, the early Delta Force games helped create a new level of realism in shooters. Nevertheless, the Delta Force series has since been left limping along the gaming wayside, surpassed by superior tactical shooters like SWAT 3, Operation Flashpoint, and Ghost Recon. NovaLogic's latest release, Delta Force: Task Force Dagger, simply can't compare with these games and marks a real step backward for the Delta Force series.
It may sound like doublespeak, but NovaLogic is billing Task Force Dagger as a "stand-alone mission pack" for 2000's once-decent but now-dated Delta Force: Land Warrior. This seeming contradiction means you'll get the same fundamental game engine featured in Land Warrior, but with 25 new missions and a bunch of new weapons. Unfortunately, none of them are particularly entertaining.
In Task Force Dagger, you head to Afghanistan to fight in missions inspired by Operation Enduring Freedom--which may suggest to some that NovaLogic is simply trying to profit from tragic real-world events. NovaLogic touts the game as a tribute to the heroes of the conflict, but Task Force Dagger simply treats the subject matter with cold, boring sterility. As far as story and setting go, it's one of the most uninvolving tactical shooters in a long time.
In Task Force Dagger, you'll head to places like Kandahar, where you'll destroy SAM sites. In Mazar-e Sharif, you'll try to capture an enemy commander. In Bagh-e Daud, you'll try to rescue a journalist. Despite this seeming variety, many missions play the same: Approach a compound, snipe a bunch of guys who are just standing around, move in, blast a few remaining guys who are just standing around, and grab some documents or blow something up. The fact that you do most of these things without any AI companions is both dull and unrealistic. As for multiplayer, it's decent enough for a short spell but ultimately just the same sort of thing you've played many times before: capture the flag, king of the hill, deathmatch, and the like.

SPELLFORCE 2 : SHADOW WARS


SpellForce 2's intriguing mix of gameplay styles makes for a great divergence from the archetypal real-time strategy game.In Shadow Wars, the dark elves are on the offensive, and it's up to you, as a member of an outcast human/dragon race, to rally the various "good" nations to meet the threat. But since no one trusts you, you must pursue a ton of quests to gain their trust, as well as deal with various evildoers and monsters along the way. In fact, there's so much of this questing going on that it won't be too long before you realize that for a real-time strategy game, SpellForce 2 seems a lot like Diablo and other role-playing games. The variety of quests is also impressive, since they don't feel like the generic FedEx-style quests (go to point X and bring back item Y). Actually, most of them are, but you'll experience so many different challenges that it never quite feels like the same thing over and over again.
Like any good role-playing game, SpellForce 2 inspires a strong sense of satisfaction as you see your hero level up and get new weapons and armor, as well as unlock new powers and abilities. SpellForce 2 features a new skill system that lets you distribute points across two skill trees, one based on magic and the other on combat, and you can put points into each skill up to a max of three times, so you have some leeway as to what kind of character to create. You can be part magic user and part warrior, or dump all your points into either skill tree. Moreover, you can specialize even further by focusing on being able to use heavy weapons or armor, or perhaps lighter arms. Speaking of which, there's a huge variety of stuff in the game, and thankfully, there seems to be no effective limit on your inventory, so you can be a pack rat and carry everything along with you. The only thing is that, in the frenetic combat that makes up most of the game, you're dealing with such huge numbers (your character will easily have thousands of hit points), that it doesn't seem to make much of a difference if you use a weapon that does 130 points of damage or another one that does 160. Weapons and armor seem to be there mostly for cosmetic purposes, since it's hard to tell the difference between weapons that fall into the same level class.
When you're not hacking and slashing your way across the map, you will have the opportunity on occasion to do some real-time strategy management. Thankfully, the complex economy from the original SpellForce feels like it's been streamlined, so it's just a matter of setting some workers to gather the three main resources, put up a handful of buildings, and start churning out various military units to beef up your heroes. Command and control of all these different units is easy thanks to the slick interface. While you can use regular real-time strategy conventions to create unit groups, SpellForce 2 goes a bit further by letting you easily designate targets for various groups or telling a hero to unload a particular spell or skill on a specific target with just a couple of mouse clicks.

Spiderman themed action adventure called Spiderman: Friend or Foe. The name of this release is actually mispelled, there’s “for” instead of “or”. Anyway, this title is aimed mostly at younger gamers as its graphic interface looks little childish and crappy. You will have a chance to meet all famous creatures from the Spiderman movies and fight against them, but I recommend not to expect too much. The game comes on 1 DVD (2 GB in size) and with cracked Safedisc protection.
Spider-Man: Friend or Foe challenges players to defeat and then join forces with notorious movie nemeses including Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Venom and Sandman, and other classic Spider-Man characters. Players will embark on a global quest to overcome an evil threat, by controlling Spider-Man™ and one of numerous Super Hero or Super Villain sidekicks, as they master unique fighting moves and styles while switching between characters to execute team combos and defeat foes. SILENT HILL 4 : THE ROOM


The game retains the dark, disturbing soul that is the unsettling center of the Silent Hill experience. Silent Hill is a town where pure evil permeates the air and the soil and eventually consumes the people. It's a soothing vacation spot that masks demon-worshipping cults and dark purpose. Each of the previous titles in the Silent Hill series of horror games has either outright taken place in the titular small town or has gradually been pulled there through some terrible inertia. Silent Hill 4: The Room breaks this trend, because it takes place in the neighboring city of South Ashfield and centers mainly on an ill-fated apartment building, a cursed apartment, and the man who lives in it. That's not the only series tenet the game breaks. Silent Hill 4 pairs third-person and new first-person gameplay with an emphasis on combat and item management. The resultant hybrid has some flaws, but The Room retains the dark, disturbing soul that is the unsettling center of the Silent Hill experience.
The unfortunate hero of Silent Hill 4 is Henry Townshend, a man living what used to be a content life in the city of South Ashfield. One night, Henry begins to experience intense, recurring nightmares and terrible headaches concurrent with his apartment apparently becoming cursed. His phone is dead, his neighbors can't hear him when he calls, his windows are sealed shut by a mysterious force, and his door is blocked as well, albeit by a not-so-mysterious force. Thick chains thoroughly web the only exit, with an important additional detail: They're bolted to the inside of his apartment. Scrawled in red on the door's interior is a note that only says, "Don't go out!! Walter." While exploring the confines of his single-bedroom apartment to fuel his confusion and despair, he discovers a ragged, man-sized hole in his bathroom wall. Faced with a dearth of other options, Henry gathers his courage and crawls through the strange portal, hoping to find an escape route. What he finds instead will lead him on a convoluted journey that will reveal the sordid past of his apartment--Room 302--as well as the identity of Walter, the man responsible for sealing Henry's room.

SEGA BASS FISHING


Sega Bass Fishing is a video game published for arcade, Dreamcast, Windows and Wii. The game is fully playable with the standard Dreamcast Controller, but it is also compatible with the Sega Fishing Controller for more realistic play. The game struggled with critics due to its narrow, simplistic nature. However, it did showcase the amazing graphical capabilities of the Dreamcast with the fish moving fluidly and realistically to create a smooth fishing experience. It sold well and became one of the few Sega All Stars titles.
